Title: Field Manager

Reports to:  Director of Programs

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary:  $55,000 -$60,000

Location: In-office at one of Jolt’s regional locations with flexibility for non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays both virtually and in-person. Eligible for an intermittent hybrid schedule.  

 

SUMMARY

In collaboration with departmental leadership, Jolt’s Field Manager facilitates the development and implementation of statewide voter registration and mobilization plans.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Team supervision & management: Supervises a team of deputy field organizers to meet voter contact, community organizing, and capacity-building goals as a hiring and firing manager
  • Issue messaging & training: Understands core political and voter advocacy issues and can effectively communicate in-scope messaging to team members 
  • Relationship building & stewardship: Builds and maintains relationships with local leaders and community partners in the designated region
  • Field strategy & data management: Develops regional strategies and systems that lead the team to successfully meet daily and weekly organizing metrics, as well as maintain data integrity
  • Special Programming Support: Collaborates with internal stakeholders to effectively support the facilitation of and recruitment of volunteers and attendees for Jolt’s special programming and events via the field team’s community interface
  • Performance assessment & reporting: Assists in the assessment of regional program success through team and individual performance metrics reporting
  • Process management: Assists in the development and implementation of process improvements leading to increased quality and efficiency
 

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Ensure team’s timely submission of applications with <1% error rate
  • Support team to achieve pledge to vote cards for 95% of registered applications 
  • Achieve an overall voter turnout for Get out the Vote (GOTV) of >/= 40%
  • Maintaining Jolt’s public image and community relations, including promotion of special programming

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Two years of staff management experience
  • Ability to anticipate and prioritize project deliverables and reliably meet project deadlines
  • Eligible to register voters in the state of Texas and get certified within two weeks of hire
  • Previous experience in data collection and management in tools such as EveryAction, NGP VAN, Mobilize, and Blocks
  • Experience in working with Google Suite
  • Reliable transportation, ability to commute to event locations all across the city (ies)
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and personnel issues
  • Standard hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11am to 7pm with strong flexibility to adjust schedule in accordance with assigned events and required to be on call as needed
  • Eligible to register voters in the state of Texas and must be or become certified as a volunteer deputy registrar within two weeks of hire
  • Access to internet on a personal smartphone or other electronic device to data enter and research 
  • Ability to carry and set up tabling/event equipment of at least 20+ pounds 
  • Ability to stand or sit for an extended period of time while working in an indoor and outdoor environment
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Three years experience in the nonprofit civic engagement or advocacy sector; with emphasis on field organizing, relational organizing and project management
  • Ability to anticipate and prioritize project deliverables and reliably meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a supportive team environment on strategic initiatives, priorities, and mission fulfillment
  • Strong written, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Previous experience in membership recruitment
  • Previous experience in voter registration and canvassing campaign management
